DP World Maputo restarted with imports to Harare via Maputo. In the first such shipment of 2025, 89x20’dc containers (in 3 lots) with rice from India to Harare arrived at Maputo to support Zimbabwe’s food supply. The complete supply chain was managed by DP World – Ocean freight on Unifeeder & terminal / landside managed by DP World Maputo.
DP World Maputo has marked a new milestone in strengthening cross-border trade, successfully resuming rice imports to Zimbabwe via rail after a considerable pause on this corridor. From the first order of 100x20’dc booked for our customer, 3 shipments with a total of 89x20’dc DC arrived in Maputo.
From vessel discharge to inland transportation, the process was completed seamlessly. Upon docking, containers were unloaded and swiftly processed by the DP World Terminal team, with valuable support from our Transit Team, ensuring an immediate transfer to rail wagons without delays.
Once consolidated at DP World Maputo, the containers were transferred to the CFM rail yard, where the trains departed promptly for Harare. The route passed through the Chicualacuala border post, a vital railway link between Mozambique and Zimbabwe. All containers safely arrived at destination, Harare, well in time.
This is a new beginning strengthening the Maputo – Zimbabwe corridor & we are expecting to have further regular shipments from this customer as well as others.
