Mangrove restoration
DP World Paramaribo and COSCO Shipping Lines Suriname partnered for the second consecutive year to support mangrove rehabilitation at Weg naar Zee on 22 September. The initiative aligns with both organisations' sustainability commitments to climate action and marine ecosystem protection.
The volunteer activity formed part of DP World Paramaribo's annual Go Green Week, now in its fifth year. This year's project expanded beyond the two maritime companies to include external volunteers, with guidance from Joan Telgt of the Mangrove Forum Suriname, who explained the critical role mangroves play in coastal protection, carbon sequestration and water purification.
Through collaborative action, DP World Paramaribo and COSCO Shipping Lines Suriname aim to accelerate mangrove planting and inspire broader community participation in coastal conservation.
