BERTH FIVE
London Gateway’s latest all-electric berth
DP World’s works to construct a fifth berth at London Gateway are currently underway. The Berth 5 Quay works, which will establish the facility as the UK's largest container port, are being carried out by construction company McLaughlin & Harvey.
As part of these works, the contractor is using piling hammers to install steel tubular piles for a new quay wall. Mitigation measures to reduce noise have been implemented, such as a non-metal pad installed between the hammer and the top of the piles to limit associated noise. In addition, impact hammering must not take place for more than six hours (total) each day and must only take place between 07:00 – 21:00 Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 21:00 Saturday, or 10:00 – 21:00 Sunday. More details about the construction can be found at: https://www.mclh.co.uk/london-gateway-construction-works/.
Should you have any concerns about these works, please contact McLaughlin & Harvey.
