DP WORLD STARTS €50 MILLION EXPANSION OF CHEMICALS HUB IN WOLFENBÜTTEL, GERMANY
Investment will add a purpose-built 30,000 m2 lithium-ion battery warehouse and new rail terminal, strengthening DP World’s support for Germany’s chemicals and automotive industries
WOLFENBÜTTEL, GERMANY – 10 September 2026: DP World has begun construction on a €50 million expansion of its chemicals logistics hub in Wolfenbüttel, Germany. The investment will add a purpose-built, 30,000m2 warehouse for the storage of lithium-ion batteries and a new rail terminal, significantly expanding the site's capabilities and strengthening DP World's support for Germany's chemicals and automotive industries.
The expansion will transform the Wolfenbüttel site into a multifunctional chemicals storage facility serving existing customers in the agricultural industry, while expanding support for automotive customers as demand for electric vehicles grows.
The newly constructed rail terminal also provides customers with seamless market access across DP World’s European and global network. This terminal, the first of its kind in the region for transporting hazardous goods, will help incentivise customers to use rail freight transport rather than road.
The project, which will create up to 80 jobs in the local area, reaffirms DP World’s commitment to the electric vehicle transition and the automotive industry in Europe, and further deepens its chemicals logistics footprint and expertise across the continent.
Luca Schulz, Director Chemicals, Central Europe, DP World, said: “I am delighted to see work officially begin in Wolfenbüttel. Investments such as this one underscore DP World’s firm commitment to chemical and automotive logistics in Europe and demonstrates the trust that our customers place in our services.”
The Wolfenbüttel centre is one of 19 chemicals warehouses operated by DP World in Europe, and provides year-round, next-day fulfilment for customers across Germany. Once complete, the facility will become DP World’s flagship chemicals storage facility in Europe and join a fast-growing network of lithium-ion storage sites across Germany. The expanded site will also provide additional capacity to support DP World’s global portfolio of automotive manufacturers and suppliers.
