DP World To Offer Technical And Strategic Expertise In UK Government's Transport Advisory Group
Date: 27/08/2020
Cooperation with TAG will help global trade to and from the UK, which will benefit customers across the supply chain and help advance global trade.
Dubai, 27 August 2020: DP World, the Dubai- based provider of worldwide smart end-to-end supply chain logistics, said today it has been designated as part the UK Government’s Transport Advisory Group as it steps up its plans to negotiate trade deals.
As trade talks with Japan, the US, Australia and New Zealand intensify, the UK International Trade Secretary Liz Truss has stepped up engagement with key industries, launching 11 new trade advisory groups (TAGs) on Wednesday as part of a major new business engagement drive designed to support the UK’s ambitious trade negotiations.
The groups cover a range of key sectors, including Transport Services, to provide knowledge, experience and strategic expertise. The talks are entering a crucial stage.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO, DP World, said: “DP World is delighted to be part of the UK Government’s Transport Advisory Group as it steps up its plans to negotiate trade deals. We are looking forward to working with the Government to help global trade to and from the UK which will benefit our customers across the supply chain.”
DP Word’s ports and terminals in the UK and Europe play a pivotal role as key hubs of the region’s and the world’s trade as shippers and consignees worldwide can ship goods, via these important DP World’s entities, to final destinations using DP World’s integrated land and marine logistics network.
DP World is the only terminal operator to provide a choice of two deep water ports in the UK; DP World Southampton on the south coast and DP World London Gateway, on the London Thames estuary.
London Gateway is the fastest growing port in the UK with an adjacent logistics park. It has the capacity to be the largest integrated port and logistics park in Europe. Southampton is regarded as the UK’s most productive terminal.
