MORE SUSTAINABLE LOGISTICS

WHAT IS THE INSETIFY PROGRAMME TRIAL?

DP World Ocean Freight Forwarding has launched an innovative Insetify Programme Trial in Belgium, Portugal and Sweden, to help our Freight Forwarding clients reduce hard-to-abate Scope 3 emissions from their oceanic supply chains.

  • Book your container ocean freight to or from Belgium, Portugal or Sweden with our Freight Forwarding team
  • Move more than 25 TEUs during the quarter
  • Earn 100kg CO2e Carbon Inset Credits per TEU shipped in the quarter at no cost
  • Receive a certified Carbon Inset Credit certificate every quarter to address your Scope 3 supply chain carbon emission reporting

REDUCING SCOPE 3 EMISSIONS

Carbon Inset Credits are designed to help you demonstrate measurable improvements in the carbon intensity of marine fuel consumption within your own value chain.

These credits are enabled by DP World Shipping Solutions (formerly Unifeeder) through the use of incrementally lower-carbon fuels across our European shipping network.

CARBON INSET CREDITS

HOW DOES THE PROGRAMME WORK?

Carbon Inset Credits generated via DP World Shipping Solutions are tracked via its GreenBox platform, which records the deployment of lower-carbon fuels and generates tokens for each tonne of CO₂ saved. These tokens are managed independently through the 123Carbon platform, following the Smart Freight Centre’s methodology and are certified by Bureau Veritas.

Customers who are eligible for the programme automatically receive Carbon Inset Credits from DP World at no additional cost.

Each qualifying 40ft container would receive 200 kg CO2e worth of Carbon Inset Credits, equivalent to approximately 10-30% of the Ocean Freight Shipping carbon emissions per container on long-haul routes.

The initial trial is planned to run from April to December 2026. If this timeline is extended, an announcement will be made.

Certificates will be issued quarterly via email - in July 2026, October 2026, and January 2027.

Each eligible TEU will qualify for 100kg CO2e.

The value of Carbon Inset Credits varies and is subject to fluctuations in the global carbon market.

Carbon insets are valid for two calendar years from the reporting year shown on the certificate. For example, certificates marked as reported in 2026 are valid until the end of 2028.

Scope 3 emissions are indirect greenhouse gas emissions from activities you do not directly own or control. For customers, these typically come from upstream and downstream activities in your supply chain.

This scheme reduces the Scope 3 emissions associated with the transport of your goods via Ocean Freight Forwarding. These emissions come from assets not owned or controlled by you, but are part of your supply chain.

The Carbon Insets are generated through DP World Shipping Solutions’ GreenBox initiative which covers emissions from container ship operations.

All Carbon Insets are verified by Bureau Veritas, a recognised third-party verifier. Each certificate includes verification details to ensure transparency and traceability.

The DP World Shipping Solutions GreenBox is a carbon-insetting solution designed to decarbonise the seaborne sections of their supply chains. GreenBox tracks shipments made aboard their marine services using alternative, low-emission fuels and generates tokens for each kilogram of carbon saved. GreenBox uses the transparent and externally verified 123Carbon Platform.

Carbon Inset Credit certificates represent CO₂e reductions achieved through investments in a company’s value chain. In this trial, certificates are generated by funding the use of low-carbon fuels in DP World Shipping Solutions (formerly Unifeeder) container vessels.

DP World developed this initiative to help customers reduce supply chain emissions and improve awareness of Scope 3 impacts. These carbon insets support credible emissions reduction reporting within your value chain.

Carbon insets can be used in your sustainability reporting as evidence of emissions reductions from marine fuel consumption. Each certificate is retired on the 123Carbon platform before issuance, confirming the reduction has been achieved.

Carbon insets can be used in certain sustainability reporting to represent a legitimate reduction in emissions within a company’s value chain and are already recognised by regulations such as the EU’s CSRD.

Your certificate will be issued in the Company’s registered name and retired prior to issue, so you will not be permitted to transfer or sell your certificate. This mitigates the risk of carbon reduction statistics being duplicated.

Carbon insets are generated through the use of biofuels on container ships operated by DP World Shipping Solutions (formerly Unifeeder). The biofuels employed are in compliance with the ISCC-EU certification and are classified as second-generation as per Annexe 9a of the Renewable Energy Directive (EU) 2018/2001 (RED II).

DP World hopes to assist our customers in reducing emissions across their supply chain and increase awareness of Scope 3 emissions. Each qualifying 40ft container would receive 200 kg CO2e worth of Carbon Inset Credits, equivalent to approximately 10-30% of the Ocean Freight Shipping carbon emissions per container on long-haul routes. These insets can be used to address Scope 3 emissions across customers supply chains.

Carbon insets can be used in certain sustainability reporting to represent a legitimate reduction in emissions within a company’s value chain and are already recognised by regulation such as the EU’s CSRD.

A decision will be made and communicated towards the end of the 9-month trial.
