DP World Limassol joined the global maritime community in on the occasion of the World Maritime Day on 25 September, by lighting up the Limassol Cruise Terminal building in blue.

World Maritime Day, established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), is celebrated annually to recognize the critical role of shipping in the global economy and to promote safe, secure, and environmentally sound shipping practices.

This year’s theme, “Our Ocean, Our Obligation, Our Opportunity", seeks to highlight the critical role the ocean plays in sustaining life, livelihoods, and the global economy, but also the mounting pressure it faces from pollution, overuse, and the accelerating effects of climate change.

DP World Limassol CEO, Mr Simon Pitout, said: “Maritime transport is the lifeblood of global trade, and Cyprus plays a key role as a strategic hub in the Mediterranean. By lighting up the cruise terminal in blue, we not only honour the seafarers and other people who work tirelessly across the maritime sector but also reaffirm our commitment to environmental stewardship.”
