Launched in 2017, DP World’s Global Education Programme raises awareness of port logistics among children and young people in more than 70 countries. In Brazil we partnered with Monte Cabral Municipal School in Continental Santos, delivering eight classroom modules that link terminal operations to core school subjects and hands-on sensory activities. Each module is taught by a DP World specialist who shares real industry knowledge.

After completing the modules, students visit DP World Brazil to see how learning translates into practice. The experience includes a catamaran tour of the Port of Santos, a guided bus visit to the terminal’s operations area and the awarding of certificates.

DP World Brazil’s Volunteer Programme enables employees to support local social and environmental projects during work hours.

To date, teams have contributed over 2,000 hours through activities such as food preparation and distribution for people experiencing homelessness, blood donation, and seasonal collections of Christmas baskets and Easter eggs. Encouraging volunteer work strengthens employees’ connection to the community and helps develop leadership skills.

Friendly Driver is DP World Brazil’s annual initiative for truck drivers serving the Port of Santos and the wider Santos metropolitan area. Over nine years, more than 4,000 drivers have received free health and welfare services, including blood tests (cholesterol and glucose), eye exams, blood pressure checks, and haircuts.

The programme also reinforces road safety and good driving practices inside and outside our facilities.

Since October 2012 DP World Brazil has partnered with Diana Island on the Caiçara Way of Life and Community-Based Tourism project. We provide material and academic support to a local cooperative that trains residents to guide monitored visits, share caiçara culture and host boat trips through the estuary. Visitors can also enjoy caiçara cuisine prepared by the group.

The initiative now welcomes about 30 visitor groups a year and supports household income, making it financially sustainable. It also helps preserve local knowledge as younger members learn cultural values, the island way of life and the importance of nearby mangroves.
