DP World Limassol, Limassol, Cyprus, 8th March 2021 DP World Limassol, celebrated International Women’s Day, by reiterating its commitment to promote female empowerment in the port and maritime industry.
The Company’s female employees received symbolic gifts, while they were also informed about initiatives, training opportunities and long-term programmes that the Company offers locally and internationally, with a view to empower women in every way possible though its global programme “DP World 4 Women”, to support mentorship programmes for women, raising awareness and creating a talent pipeline for the future.
Specifically, this year, DP World Limassol is organizing, among other, a series of soft skills workshops under the name “Steer your destiny”, held by the Company’s Europe & Russia regional office. The workshops will run throughout the year and will train female employees on how to boost their personal brand and confidence, also helping them acquire influencing skills. The Company is also planning on hosting a series of virtual roundtables this year, designed and focused for our female’s members with internal and external guests
DP World Limassol’s CEO, Nawaf Abdulla, said on the occasion: “Investing in female empowerment is crucial, in order to secure a sustainable maritime industry. Although the number of women in the port and maritime industry has increased in the past years, there is still long way to go. We are extremely proud for all the female members of our Limassol workforce and we remain committed to gender parity and providing equal opportunities for all. As an organization, we believe that a diverse and inclusive workplace fosters creativity, leading to more out-of-the-box thinking and better ideas”.
“As such, as a leading end-to-end supply chain solutions provider, we remain committed to remedying the maritime industry’s broader failure to attract, employ and retain women as employees and appoint them in leadership roles. In fact, the DP World Group has made a global commitment to increase the percentage of our female workforce and therefore currently, at our ports and terminals around the world, women are working in important roles, driving the transformation of the industry”.
“On this International Women’s Day” Mr. Abdulla added, “I would like to extend my thanks to our female colleagues for the important work they are doing and continue to draw from their unique perspectives and potential, whilst supporting them every step of the way”.
