Another Day, Another Record Exchange for DP World

Sydney, Wednesday 3 December: DP World Sydney has completed a record exchange of 5,595 units or 9,707 TEU working the Seamax Stratford.

The exchange, completed on 1 December, represents the largest ever to take place at DP World Sydney’s Port Botany Terminal, beating the previous record achieved in July 2020 of 4,607 or 7,681 TEUs by 24 per cent.

The exchange also surpasses DP World’s own record in Australia of 5,261 units or 7,826 TEU set in June 2020 at DP World Melbourne.

The 334 metre OOCL vessel is one of six vessels on the A3 Central Service, a weekly caller through DP World Sydney which stops at ports in China and Taiwan.

The Seamax Stratford call follows the previous omission of Sydney by the OOCL Rotterdam.

Mark Hulme, General Manager of Operations at DP World Sydney said:

“DP World Sydney continues to handle the increasingly larger vessels calling Australian ports with experience and expertise.

This record-breaking exchange at DP World Sydney is the latest great news out of our Port Botany Terminal, following the announcement of the successful endorsement of our localised Enterprise Agreement on 19 November 2020.”

The contribution by all employees to this record is a testament to their skill and capability.”

The Seamax Stratford’s next stop will be at DP World’s Brisbane terminal, where it is expected to complete another record-busting exchange.

DP World's Sydney terminal has a direct rail link, allowing the easy and quick transport of cargo from ship to shore, in and out of Port Botany, for a complete end-to-end logistics solution.
