Our World, Our Future
Sultan Ahmen bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO, DP World
"We are committed to being world leaders in sustainability. It is as important to us commercially as it is to the societies in which we operate. As a major global employer we know we can play a significant role in improving people’s lives, strengthening their communities, and protecting their environment.
I am proud of the significant progress we have made – not only through our corporate efforts but also from the huge contribution made by our teams across the world.
Our World, Our Future has created a platform for our people to get involved, move forward and make a big difference in the communities in which they live and work.
Sustainability is for the long term and I look forward to the next chapter." - Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem
Sustainable Development Goals
Committed to responsible business
We believe that working in a sustainable and responsible way is essential to building a strong business for our customers, our people and our society. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are important to DP World because they fit with our intention to work in a sustainable and responsible way.
Through DP World’s wide-ranging sustainability initiatives brought together under Our World, Our Future, we are already helping address the SDGs in various different ways.
In 2018, we launched two new pillars - Women’s Empowerment and Oceans - building on our commitments and using the SDGs as our framework to find innovative solution to global issues.
Global Education Programme
Our pioneering programme aims to boost the skills, aspirations and confidence of young people in the communities where we operate, raising awareness about the maritime sector, trade and logistics, and related career options.Watch Video
Solar Power Programme
Our rooftop solar installation project in Dubai is one of the largest in the Middle East and saves some 48,800 tonnes of carbon annually, providing enough clean power for 3,000 homes.Watch Video
Our operations bring vital infrastructure and advancements for local communities, helping build a vibrant, secure and resilient society. DP World has been enabling trade in Senegal, on the West Coast of Africa since 2008 with 31,000 Senegalese nationals supported by DP World’s activities, a 63% increase in Dakar’s imports and exports between 2010 and 2015 and an 89% increase in taxes paid to the Government of Senegal 2010 – 2015.
Carbon Disclosure Project
We report our carbon emissions through the Carbon Disclosure Project – with continuous improvement. We’ve reduced carbon emissions by:
- Monitoring energy use
- Making terminal operations more efficient
- Renewable energy
- Low-carbon technologies
