LONG-TERM VISION

CONNECTING PERÚ’S POTENTIAL TO THE WORLD

Perú produces products the world wants, from blueberries and avocados to minerals and seafood. Over the past two decades, exports have grown rapidly, creating opportunities for businesses, communities and the wider economy.

Through investment in ports, logistics and technology, DP World is connecting Perú’s producers with markets around the world generating $527 million of tax revenue and tens of thousands of jobs in the process.

The value of stronger trade connections extends beyond ports and economic growth. It is reflected in the lives of the people and communities growing alongside them.

CREATING TOMORROW’S PERÚ

When trade transforms economies, its impact is felt in people’s lives. Across Callao and beyond, people are building businesses, creating safer workplaces and securing livelihoods for the future.

Maritza Rodriguez Cooks for her Community

Chalaca Maritza Rodriguez started cooking when she was 12 years old. “My mum taught me to cook and because she had to work I had to cook for my brothers, who worked cleaning cars and as bus-fare collectors,” she says.

In 2016, she started selling homemade causas (potato patties) from a cart. But it wasn’t until she joined our Emprende programme in 2022 that she was able to establish her Maricausa restaurant. Emprende is run by volunteers from DP World and helps entrepreneurs improve their business skills. It has helped more than 228 locals, 80% of whom are women.

“I learnt a lot. And not just me, there were several of us. It was like a workshop and DP World staff gave us the opportunity to learn,” she says. “Maricausa took a leap forward with the Emprende programme because before I wasn’t very well known.”

Now the walls of her restaurant are adorned with certificates and newspaper articles that are testament to her achievement. Since completing the programme, Rodriguez has gone from strength to strength. She is able to support her family, and her mother, four sons and sisters-in-law work in the restaurant with her. As her business has thrived so has her family.

“I’ve paid for my house, figured out where to live with my children and pay for their studies. I’m happy and proud of my children. They work and study, and one has already finished his degree.”

“I'm an entrepreneur who, in truth, has been given opportunities in life,” says Rodriguez.

IMPACT AT SCALE

The changes experienced by Maritza, Alfredo and Tomás are part of a much bigger story. When trade works better, its impact extends far beyond the port, creating opportunities for businesses and communities while strengthening Perú’s connections with the global economy. That impact can be measured.

WHEN TRADE WORKS BETTER

Our investment in Perú’s ports and logistics network is helping goods move faster, increasing capacity for exporters and supporting the transition towards more sustainable trade.

1.6 days faster

The expansion of Callao allows the terminal to handle mega-vessels while reducing vessel waiting times by 1.6 days, helping cargo reach its destination sooner and increasing terminal capacity by 80%.

$90bn in exports

We have helped Perú become the third-largest exporter in South America, shipping $90.08 billion of exports in 2025, a 21% increase compared with 2024, the highest figure in South America.

22% reduction in carbon footprint

The electrification of RTs and yard operations at the Port of Callao led to a 22% reduction in our carbon footprint, with the goal to reduce emissions by 90% by 2030.

80% of blueberry exports

In 2024, the Callao terminal handled 80% of national blueberry exports. During the 2025 season, it moved $438.3 million worth of avocado exports, representing 60% of the country’s total avocado shipments.
