Rizwan Soomar

Rizwan Soomar is CEO & Managing Director for DP World’s Subcontinent, Central Asia, Levant and Egypt region, spearheading the company’s ports and logistics portfolio across some of its fastest‑growing markets. An accomplished industry leader with a career spanning more than two decades in the maritime and logistics sector, he is responsible for driving commercial growth, operational excellence and integrated logistics strategy across these regions.

Since joining DP World in 2017, Rizwan has played a key role in advancing the company’s vision of becoming a leading end‑to‑end supply chain solutions provider, expanding beyond ports into rail, inland logistics, warehousing, free zones, digital platforms and multimodal logistics.

Prior to DP World, he held senior roles at AP Moller–Maersk, including Managing Director of its Egypt logistics business and Maersk Line India & Sri Lanka. He later served as Vice President and Global COO of Svitzer in Denmark, overseeing a fleet of more than 500 vessels across 130 locations worldwide.
Before that, Rizwan was based in Singapore where he led strategic investments for APM Terminals and drove commercial growth across Asia-Pacific. He also chaired Gateway Terminals India and served on the boards of several leading ports in South Asia.

Rizwan currently serves as Chair of the National Logistics Committee at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce. He also holds the positions of Co-Chairman of the UAE Chapter and Vice Chairman of the India Chapter of the UAE-India Business Council.
Named by Business Today as one of India's top 25 executives under 40, Rizwan was also ranked among A.P. Moller–Maersk's top 100 global leaders for driving high-revenue growth.

Rizwan has an MBA degree from the Chicago Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago in the USA and a Diploma from the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) in London. He has also participated in Executive Management programs at INSEAD, Fontainebleau and IMD, Lausanne.
