The Port of Djendjen occupies a strategic position less than 50 miles from the sea route linking the Suez Canal to Gibraltar Strait. Positioned just 10 kilometres from Jijel and 350 kilometres east of Algiers, the port serves a vast hinterland extending across eastern and south-eastern Algeria, including the Highlands' industrial zones and the oil platforms of the south.
