The disbursement service fee is a charge levied by shipping companies or agents when they pay certain fees or charges on behalf of the importer or exporter. These might include port charges, customs fees, or other necessary expenses incurred during the transport of goods. This service ensures a smoother shipping process, allowing the consignee to focus on their core business while the service provider handles these additional costs.

There are several components that make up the disbursement service fee. Some of the common elements include:

  • Port Fees: Often, shipping involves paying various port fees such as docking dues, service charges, and other operational fees necessary for the ship's stay at the port.
  • Customs Duties: These are the taxes imposed by a country on the import or export of goods. The shipping agent may pay these duties upfront to expedite clearance.
