Santo Domingo, Boca Chica – DP World in the Dominican Republic, a provider of logistics solutions, under the framework of its training center, the DP World Academy, announced that it has signed collaboration agreements with the Santo Domingo Technological Institute (INTEC) and the Barna Management School, to offer executive programs, master´s degrees, and other courses focusing on the areas of logistics, manufacturing, shipping, and port operations.

Through these alliances DP World Academy is consolidating its academic offering to the Dominican market together with these two important educational institutions. These programs will be available to students from both institutions, which collaborate with DP World in the Dominican Republic, as well as to professionals from the logistics sector who are interested in gaining deeper knowledge about these activities.

The signing of both agreements took place in the DP World Caucedo installations, with the participation of Morten Johansen, CEO of DP World in the Dominican Republic, Rolando Guzmán, Rector of INTEC, and Paulo Alves, Rector of Barna Management School.

In his address during both of these events, Morten Johansen emphasized DP World Caucedo´s commitment to turning the Dominican Republic into the most important logistics HUB in the Americas, and explained how initiatives such as DP World Academy and the creation of alliances with these educational institutions respond to this objective.

“Facilitating intelligent trade to build a better future for all is our main commitment as a company. These alliances are evidence of this fact, and represent a valuable opportunity for the development of the Dominican logistics sector. With INTEC and Barna Management School as strategic allies in DP World Academy, we will contribute to the growth of those professionals who form part of the entire supply chain in this country, by covering the requirements for technical skills and knowledge about the logistics of the industries of which they form part,” according to the CEO of DP World in the Dominican Republic.

Likewise, the Rector of INTEC, Rolando M. Guzmán, spoke about the pride the university feels about this strategic alliance and the benefits it will bring the nation, the institution´s students, and the professionals in this sector.

“This is a very important agreement for INTEC. The relationship with DP World, and particularly with DP World Academy, represents a new opportunity to unite our institution with world-class entities. Our intention is to carry out activities that will contribute in different ways to the development of logistics and transportation skills in the Dominican Republic. This is the first step in what I am sure will be a long journey of collaboration,” he stated.

In addition, Paulo Alves, Rector of Barna Management School, underscored the training center´s commitment to the success of DP World Academy´s initiative.

“In a changing world, full of new challenges, DP World´s bet on this endeavor is key to the sustainable development of the sector and the various players in the supply chain. We thank DP World and in particular Mr. Morten Johansen for believing in Dominican talent, and trusting in Barna as its strategic ally in DP World Academy, which is the first training center in the country targeting this industry,” Alves stated.
