DP World Sydney breaks annual TEU handling record
Sydney, 21 November, 2021: DP World Australia’s Sydney Terminal has successfully handled its one millionth TEU in early November. This significant milestone occurred across 345 vessels, at an average exchange of 1793 units and supports the continued strong performance of our Sydney Terminal this year.
Despite ongoing challenges faced by stevedores globally, our Sydney Terminal continues to provide consistent operational performance and is on track for record volume growth in 2021.
As we support our customers and the Australian supply chain to move a significant increase in the number of containers through the port, our Sydney Terminal has remained resilient and continues to deliver outstanding productivity with an increase of 10% YOY, with a further volume increase of 15% YOY.
DP World Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Adam said,
“The impact of the pandemic has placed considerable pressure on global supply chains, yet DP World Australia has continued to provide consistent operational performance, with minor delays to shipping schedules.
"With the conclusion of Enterprise Agreement negotiations 15 months ago, DP World Australia continues to lead the market in productivity and remains committed to our customers and ensuring service reliability for the Australian supply chain. I am proud that DP World Sydney has supported the NSW economy by contributing to the handling of a 12.5% increase in volume year to date through the container terminals at Port Botany.”
Scott Eadie, General Manager of Operations at DP World Sydney said, “Despite a challenging year due to Covid 19 and delays in the global supply chain, DP World Sydney is proud to have passed this significant milestone. It’s a credit to our entire workforce who have set new records in productivity, while working around the clock to keep critical cargo moving”.
