DP World TIS Pivdennyi together with MAERSK was the first among the seaports of Ukraine to start systematically developing regular container rail transportation.
The first container train to Dnipro was sent from the terminal in autumn 2017. Today, the service of freight railway container transportation covers 90% of the territory of Ukraine. Сontainer trains depart from the terminal every week to Kyiv, Kharkiv, Ternopil, and Dnipro. From June 2021, the terminal receives a regular container train from Guangzhou (PRC) on a monthly basis.
Among the advantages of rail container transportation are: speed, no weight restrictions, the possibility of simultaneous transportation of large consignments, safe transportation of fragile goods, independence from weather conditions, as well as cargo insurance along the entire route.
