Port Authority Rail Yard (PARY) Expansion Project

DP World Fraser Surrey Inc. is proposing an upgrade to the Port Authority Rail Yard (PARY) at Fraser Surrey Terminal which aims to improve rail efficiency, reduce train movements, and support the efficient movement of goods to global markets, all while minimizing environmental and community impacts.

Upon completion, the project will increase total track capacity from 23,600 feet to 42,540 feet.

The Project broadly consists of the following components:

  • Extension of six existing rail tracks (Tracks 94–99): Tracks will be extended to lengths between 2,860 and 4,810 feet.
  • Realigning part of the existing B026 trackwork: To improve the approach to the new tracks.
  • Construction of a utility protection structure: A protective structure will be built over a Metro Vancouver sewer line.

This strategic expansion offers benefits such as fewer train movements, reduced emissions, and enhanced rail coordination, all contributing to more efficient and sustainable port operations. DP World is committed to minimizing community impacts by commissioning studies to ensure negligible effects on noise, air quality, and traffic.
