Celebrating Success: Launch of the First Rail Service from Komatipoort to Maputo
Date: 10/06/2025
We are delighted to celebrate the success of DP World Maputo with the launch of the first-ever rail service connecting Komatipoort, South Africa to Maputo, Mozambique.

This service, which was officially launched in March 2025, is a crucial step forward in enhancing cross-border logistics and trade between South Africa and Mozambique.
This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our operations and the region. The project required extensive negotiations and the organization of the necessary documentation, which involved collaboration across multiple teams and stakeholders to ensure a smooth and successful transit of cargo along the corridor.
This success is a testament to the hard work, determination, and resilience of everyone involved in the project. Our new rail service is not only the first rail link between Komatipoort and Maputo, but it is also the first rail service operated by DP World Maputo that connects Mozambique with South Africa.
The service aims to improve the efficiency of freight transport between the two countries, offering a faster, more reliable alternative to road transport and enhancing trade opportunities across the region.
