Welcoming His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Chapo,
Date: 27/11/2025
We had the honour of welcoming His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Daniel Chapo, for a visit to the Maputo Quay Wall and Yard Expansion works
During the visit, we showcased the progress of our Container Terminal expansion project, highlighting the current construction phase, the overall master plan, and the key milestones achieved since the works began in April this year.
This expansion marks a significant step in increasing our capacity, strengthening Mozambique’s logistics corridors, and positioning the Port of Maputo as a strategic gateway for regional trade. We also showcased our recently developed corridor initiatives, whereby Maputo is now connected directly with Johannesburg (SA), Komatipoort (SA), Eswatini, & Zimbabwe and serviced via daily trains to various destinations.
DP World team showcased its commitment in delivering the world-class infrastructure that drives sustainable growth and contributes to the national development.
President Chapo expressed his happiness with the Maputo Container Terminal Expansion progress. He called for a more attractive and innovation-driven port service, reinforcing that: “These are not just numbers as we may imagine, they represent greater efficiency, more business, more jobs, and more development”. His remarks underscore the importance of this project as a major step forward in enhancing collaboration, boosting competitiveness, and solidifying Mozambique’s presence in the global market.
