DP World Yarimca sees 86% in project cargo handling

DP World’s Yarimca has announced that over the past year its handling of project cargo has increased by 86 per cent, resulting in a 125 percent growth in its business in this market compared to 2019.

According to DP World, Turkish exports in non-containerized ships and yachts has surged by as much as 331 percent since 2016.

DP World Yarimca’s unique berth width, customizable service, and state-of-the-art terminal has made it the port of choice in Eastern Europe for customers transporting project cargo.

DP World Yarimca’s CEO Kris Adams said: “Thanks to our investments in infrastructure and technology, DP World Yarımca stands out as the only port with the capability to carry out project cargo operations. I can also say that we have become the sole point of service in terms of out of gauge cargo.

“This is further confirmed by the fact that our handling volume in terms of this type of special cargoes has doubled. We have gained serious know-how with regard to sensitive cargoes over time."

The main export markets for non-containerizable cargo are the Middle East, Africa, America and the Far East, respectively.
