Faisal Arekat is Group Senior Vice President, Legal, Governance & Company Secretary of DP World. He acts as legal adviser to the Board of Directors, and specialises in governance and strategic thinking to ensure that DP World operates in accordance with its values, and in compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements
As part of his role, Faisal oversees a number of legal and governance functions, and leads the Group Corporate Secretariat Department at DP World. He also acts as legal adviser and secretary to the boards of directors of major operating entities within the Group.
Faisal is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales, and has a BSc in Political Science from the University of Jordan, a LLM in International Law from Oxford Brookes University in the UK, a Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Westminster in the UK, and an Executive Certificate in the General Counsel Executive Leadership Program from Harvard Law School in the USA . Prior to working at DP World, Faisal worked as an in-house legal counsel at Standard Chartered Bank in the Dubai International Financial Centre, and as a solicitor in law firms in London prior to that.
