New rate for provision of VGM starting June 1st 2017

Dear Customers,

As you aware, further to the implementation of the new SOLAS regulations back in July 2016, globally DP World made the important decision to offer container weighing services at our terminals. We firmly believe that this was the right thing to do, primarily to help improve vessel safety but also to offer a service which helped keeping the Romanian supply chain moving.

In accordance with SOLAS regulations which are now enforced under national legislation in Romania, DP World will not load a laden container on to a vessel unless it has a VGM. The supply chain can either obtain a VGM prior to the port or we can provide that service at DP World Constanta.

In preparation of the July 1st 2016 launch of this new regulation, we worked extensively with the Romanian government, shippers and shipping lines to ensure that the Romanian supply chain keeps moving. Having met regulatory approval by the Romanian government – DP World Constanta started offering a VGM service.

To be fully compliant and meet SOLAS requirements, we have made significant changes to our operating procedures, including new IT systems, staffing and training, yard process changes and installation + implementation of new equipment.

One year later we would like to thank you, as our esteemed customer, for all your support and cooperation and most of all your valuable feedback.

Coming now to the subject of tariff rate applicable for the provision of VGM, it has been a common request addressed to the terminal that the rate should no longer be related to the weight of the laden container but rather a lump sum applicable to all boxes.

As such, we are very pleased to announce that as of June 1st 2017, a new rate for the provision of the VGM service is applicable as follows:

Please note that all other tariff items as well as charging methodology remain unchanged.

It is our strong belief that offering this new rate for the existing service will create additional value for you as our esteemed customers by ensuring seamless flow of data, enabling less interruption in the supply chain and reduce the probability of export late arrival containers impact.
